Breast augmentation is a surgery that provides patients with fuller, more shapely breasts. This procedure can increase the size of naturally small breasts or restore fullness and firmness to breasts that have lost volume over time. This extremely popular and satisfying procedure improves uneven or sagging breasts, although breasts with excessive sagging will experience greater improvement from a breast lift combined with a breast augmentation.
Most women desire breast augmentation to increase their breast volume without making it obvious that they have implants. There are many different options with breast augmentation surgery so that it can be tailored to meet your individual needs and achieve breasts that suit your body and look natural. (For patients who desire a more obviously enhanced breast appearance, Dr. Schlechter can customize the procedure to achieve that result as well.)
There are many different choices with breast augmentation to help you achieve your desired look. During your consultation, Dr. Schlechter will take the time to thoroughly educate you on all your options and help determine the best choices to meet your unique goals and body type.
All of our implants are FDA approved.
I had a breast augmentation here, and it turned out wonderful! It is the best boob job that any of my friends said they had ever seen. – JD
Couldn't have asked for a better experience! Dr. Schlechter and his wonderful staff went above and beyond my expectations. They all made me feel so comfortable and my visits were by far better than any doctor I have ever been to. They knew I was in a hurry to have my breast implant surgery done and even squeezed me in the same week as my consultation. I will be using them for future procedures. THANKS, DOC! – NB
During your initial consultation, Dr. Schlechter will take many different factors into consideration to help choose the best implants to achieve your needs and goals. Some of these factors include the size and shape of your existing breast tissue, your body type and frame, and your desired breast size, shape, and projection. Once your implant type (silicone or saline) and profile (high, ultra high, moderate, low, etc.) are chosen, then the actual size can be considered.
Here at Spring Ridge Plastic Surgery, we have the Vectra 3D Imaging System that allows you to see a virtual image of your proposed breast augmentation results before surgery. However, this imaging is not appropriate for every patient and is not relied on for determining the best implant size and type. For example, after a patient chooses her implant type and profile, Vectra 3D imaging can be extremely helpful if she is unable to decide between two sizes. It can also be helpful for patients considering significantly larger implants to see what they would look like.
The incisions for breast augmentation can be made around the nipples, along the breast crease, or within the armpits. The incision along the breast crease is preferred because it reduces the risk of complications and allows for more precise implant placement. During your consultation, Dr. Schlechter will more thoroughly explain the benefits and drawbacks of each incision location and help determine the best option for you.
Implant placement beneath the muscle (submuscular) provides more implant coverage than placement above the muscle (subglandular). Submuscular placement generally allows for a more natural breast appearance, especially for patients with little natural breast tissue. However, patients with adequate breast tissue for implant coverage who are borderline for needing a lift may experience some degree of improvement when the implant is placed above the muscle. During your consultation, Dr. Schlechter will elaborate on the benefits of different implant placements and help determine the best option for you.
While some surgeons perform breast augmentation with their patients under general anesthesia, here at Spring Ridge Plastic Surgery we use intravenous (IV) sedation. This allows the patients to breathe on their own rather than being on a respirator while also ensuring that they do not feel any pain during the procedure. Also, IV sedation does not paralyze the patient and offers a much lower risk of nausea postoperatively.
Dr. Schlechter performs all breast augmentation surgeries in the privacy of our state-licensed, in-office surgical suite.
Advancements in breast augmentation allow for more natural-looking results than ever before. Dr. Schlechter will evaluate you and listen to your wishes during your consultation to determine the specific options that will best give you the look and feel you desire.
As with all surgical procedures, there are some risks with breast augmentation, such as bleeding, infection, allergic reactions, and capsular contracture. However, Dr. Schlechter’s rate of breast augmentation complications is extremely low, and he has never needed to perform an implant removal procedure due to infection. Additionally, Dr. Schlechter’s meticulous method of implant insertion has resulted in a rate of capsular contracture of less than one percent compared to the national average of approximately 16 percent.
The cost of your breast augmentation will depend on your specific anatomy and surgery. Please see our Plastic Surgery Procedure Pricing Guide for more information.
